Special Open Session: Athletics & PE Transcript/Credits

The board reviewed the current MVLA practice by which a student's transcript shows that credit is given for both PE and extracurricular athletics. This practice is contrary to both the Education Code and MVLA Board Policy. The board discussed standardizing how physical education credit is documented across both schools to ensure consistency with Board Policy and state requirements.

Mylee Ben Tovim (LAHS) and Kapil Shastry (MVHS) were sworn in as the new student members of the MVLA Board of Trustees.

Thank you for allowing me to share what Los Altos High School has been working on as we get ready to head back to school. Over the past week, ASB and SCL attended Leadership Camp, where we planned WOW Week, our Week of Welcome, and organized activities to help students start the year feeling connected. Some of the activities we have worked on specifically in ASB are the Ice Cream Social and the B2S Rally. Each grade level also began preparing for Homecoming Week by brainstorming themes and ideas to make it an exciting experience for our student body.

Hello everyone! My name is Kapil Shastry, and I’m excited to serve as the Mountain View Student Board Representative for the 2026-2027 school year. Currently, Mountain View High School is in the midst of back-to-school preparations with many events. In the past few weeks as well as upcoming weeks, our sports teams are doing preseason training with cross country, football, and other sports conducting weekly practices. For our incoming freshman, Spartan Start training started today with ASB, Ambassadors, and others coming together to welcome our incoming class with pictures, textbooks, and fun activities. On Tuesday, we will have the freshman orientation; the sophomore and junior orientations will be on Thursday, and the senior orientation will happen on Friday. Additionally, we will welcome staff at the District Kickoff at Los Altos High School this year on Wednesday. Finally, our back-to-school (BTS) spirit week is coming up in two weeks with spirit days and a fun-filled rally with performances and games. Mountain View High School is looking forward to a great 2026-2027 school year, and we look forward to working with the board of trustees.

2026 Summer School Review

The MVLA Summer School was held at Los Altos High School during this summer season. The program spanned from June 10th to July 9th and was led by Suzanne Woolfolk and Jennifer Lewis, who served as the Summer School Principals. Alongside them, a dedicated team of staff members played vital roles in ensuring the success of the Summer School program.

MVLA Summer School's primary focus is to offer courses in core academic subjects. These courses cater to students aiming to recover credits, as well as those aiming to enhance their grades to meet A-G eligibility standards.
