Community: Events, Facilities and Construction

The Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA) recognizes the need for our schools to be good neighbors to the many residents who share our fence lines, streets and community.  This web page is a forum for us to share questions we’ve received from neighbors and community members along with our responses. We will update and expand this Q&A with new queries and information.

We always encourage students to be safe and courteous on the road, but we cannot control their behaviors off campus. Depending on where you live, here is contact information for the local police departments:

    Mountain View
The Mountain View Police Department has a non-emergency phone for people to report issues like this: 650-903-6344.
You can also send a message to MVPD via several social media channels that they monitor, including Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor.

    Los Altos

Charging stations are reserved for MVLA District staff and teachers during school hours.
Charging stations are available to the public during non-school hours for a fee.  Electric vehicle owners must download the PowerFlex app to use and pay for EV charging access.
I'm moving to the area. How can I tell which high school my teen will attend?

The passage of Measure E has provided MVLA funds to build new and renovate existing facilities to meet student enrollment needs. The construction planned should accommodate anticipated student enrollment projections, unless there are more expansions of residential housing in the Mountain View and Los Altos communities, such as the North Bayshore region.

Mark Twain once said, "Buy land, they're not making it anymore." That literary quote sums up another element of our dilemma. If the need for a third comprehensive high school site was to arise, where would we find available and affordable land to build it? Our district administrators are monitoring enrollment and area growth figures very closely, and are ready to act if and when a third comprehensive high school site may be needed.
What are the first and last days of school?
