Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment is when students earn UC/CSU transferable credit (in most cases) while taking a high school course, while they are in high school, during the normal school day. Students are typically taught by their high school teacher, contracted with the community college and must earn a C (75%) or better to earn the credit. There is no special test, or enrollment sign up, other than parents must sign a digital parent permission form that will be provided before or at the beginning of the class. If parents do not give one time permission for students to earn college credit, the student will earn high school credit only. Students enrolled in DE classes are considered "College Students" at the same time as being high school students and do have student responsibilities, specifically different college drop dates to adhere to. There is no cost for taking DE classes during the school day under our CCAP agreement. Because DE courses are college level courses, they do receive a weight on the GPA scale.
This school year, we have earlier enrollment dates and deadlines for Dual Enrollment Courses through or CCAP partner, Foothill College. What this means is that if a student has a schedule change or ‘adds’ the class after the Sept, 1, 2026 Foothill census deadline, they will not be eligible for earning dual enrollment credit during the MVLA course. This is a community college census report deadline that we at MVLA do not have any control over, and must adhere to. For this reason, please be mindful of this very important date and deadline. This would also apply to parents who have not given one time permission for students to enroll in the course before the deadline.
Our Dual enrollment Community CCAP Partner; Foothill College
College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) dual enrollment partnership agreement is a grant that is consistent with the requirements of Section 76004 of California Education Code and that gives students access to dual enrollment opportunities pursuant to the CCAP partnership agreement. MVLA has a CCAP agreement with Foothill College. To earn DE credit, students simply sign up for the MVLA course and the rest is handled by MVLA's DE Program Specialist and FH College's DE Coordinator. Parents do need to give permission for their student to be enrolled before the first DE class. Once parents give permission, students are eligible to earn DE credit throughout their 4 years of high school.
