AI Guidance for Staff

Privacy and Confidentiality

Staff should never include personally identifiable information, such as names, dates of birth, addresses, protected health information, or other details that could identify an individual or group, into generative AI tools. Confidential or legally protected information must also not be shared.

AI Tool Approval and Use

All staff have access to BriskTeaching, Gemini + NotebookLM through our Google Education Plus license

Staff should only use AI tools vetted and approved by MVLA and listed in the EdTech Approved Tools list. An approved tool meets the district’s standards for privacy, security, and confidentiality, and complies with applicable state and federal laws. Approval does not mean the tool meets the district’s academic standards.

Using AI to Support Instruction

Review instructional guidance on using AI in the classroom. It highlights strategies for ethical use of AI for instructional planning to maintain academic integrity and support skill development. When planning, remember that textbooks and curricular materials are copyrighted and/or proprietary MVLA intellectual property and should not be entered into generative AI tools.
