Throughout each school year, the MVLA Board of Trustees recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of selected students: MVLA Students of the Month.
Students are selected for this honor based on a variety of factors. A prerequisite for selection as a Student of the Month is outstanding academic achievement, defined as a weighted current GPA of 3.5 or higher, although other factors may be considered in the selection process.
These other factors may include but are not limited to extracurricular successes, community service, character values, involvement on campus, exemplary leadership skills and/or outstanding accomplishments outside of school. Students of the Month shall exemplify the core values, qualities, and vision of the MVLA District.
Some examples of past Student of the Month recipients include academic scholars, presidents of active clubs, multiple sport student-athletes, and students who are widely involved in organizations on campus.
Broad school involvement is not a prerequisite for selection, but all Student of the Month recipients must demonstrate a positive work ethic, moral character, and an appreciation for our community’s diversity.

We are happy to present Elaine Choi as Middle College’s MVLA Student of the Year. The success of our program relies on two major cultural pillars: one relational, one intellectual. Both pillars are vital (one might even say, “interdependent”), and heavily depend on student support, which is why we particularly appreciate Elaine’s consistent contributions to each of them over the last two years. The primary pillar that Middle College relies on is a sense of community, welcome, and belonging. Through her kind leadership and genuine concern for others, Elaine has helped to make this goal a reality. She has gone out of her way to help peers with assignments, to encourage reluctant students to participate, and to volunteer as an ambassador at recruitment events. Her attentiveness to others, patience, and generosity have made Middle College a more enjoyable experience for all... click here for the complete write up.

One of the biggest announcements for Los Altos High School is the creation of a new logo! Los Altos will be revamping their field this summer as one of the first major moves to adopt this logo. With it also comes many different versions for different mediums and needs.
Looking ahead, next week we will be hosting our annual Clash of the Classes rally and spirit week, one of our most anticipated traditions. This year, we’re especially excited to introduce a new element by merging the week with our Girls Flag Football tournament. By bringing these two events together, we’re creating an even more unified and spirited experience for students—one that celebrates both school pride and the growing enthusiasm around girls athletics. We’re looking forward to a week full of competition, collaboration, and a strong school community.
We also recently hosted our first-ever Eagle Talent Show two weeks ago, which saw an incredible turnout from audience members. Students showcased a wide range of talents, including singing, colorguard, and dance, and the event created a space for creativity and self-expression that resonated across campus. Based on its success, we are excited to continue building this event and look forward to making it an annual tradition in the years to come.
In addition to these activities, our classrooms are currently focused on preparing for upcoming CAASP testing, which will take place during the English and History classes.
Overall, it’s been a dynamic time on campus, with students demonstrating school spirit, creativity, and dedication both inside and outside the classroom. Thank you for your continued support of our students and programs. (Written by Lucy Lai, Student Board Rep, LAHS.)

Two weeks ago, MVHS hosted another successful two-day Teacher Development workshop, with lots of new learnings for everyone. A standout segment featured the Tech Interns teaching teachers and teacher aides how to best utilize AI and technology in the classroom.
Our main highlight of the past weeks, however, was the Life Skills St. Patrick's Day Dance. Every year, Mountain View holds a dance in the Aux Gym where Life Skills students from all around our area come and dance from 9:30–11:30 AM. Everyone seemed to be smiling and dancing the entire time, and it truly encapsulated the spirit and community that our school strives to build.
The arts have been thriving as well. Six the Musical was a tremendous success, with many students coming out to support the brilliant performance, complete with complex costumes and a joyful atmosphere. Dance, Instrumental, and Choir all have upcoming auditions, performances, and callbacks this week as groups prepare for the coming year.
Classes have also been building community through their class socials. The ASB senior cabinet hosted a Quarter 3 Spikeball Tournament, where the Class of 2026 gathered on the field to celebrate the last few months of high school. The ASB freshmen cabinet enjoyed a festive St. Patrick's Day-themed social featuring cupcakes and cookies, bringing lots of fun and joy to Mountain View.
Looking ahead, this Friday our sister school Iwata will be visiting for their cultural performance during tutorial in the theatre. Additionally, a new Club Spring Event will give students the opportunity to learn how to start a club before the new school year.
Overall, it has been a highly spirited couple of weeks, and I thank you for your time. (Written by Claire Schwarzhoff, Student Board Rep, MVHS.)

Administration is bringing forward a new course proposal for AP Seminar for formal Board approval. AP Seminar has been offered to students as a two-year pilot, during which the District has observed strong student engagement and positive outcomes aligned to the course’s focus on inquiry, research, evidence-based argumentation, and academic communication. Based on the pilot’s results and the course’s alignment with college readiness goals, staff recommend Board action to approve AP Seminar as an official course offering beginning in the next school year, including course placement within the AP program and the corresponding course catalog and master schedule updates.
