Superintendent's Message

Dear MVLAHSD Families and Community Partners,

With great excitement and optimism, I welcome you back to the start of a new school year. Our MVLA team worked diligently to prepare our campuses and classrooms for a strong year. As a district, we will continue to pursue our principles of Academic Excellence, Equity, and Engagement at all levels.

We have two new leaders at one of our campuses this year. We welcome Tracey Runeare, an experienced high school principal who comes to us from Santa Cruz County. Derek Miyahara is the new Assistant Principal at Los Altos, and as a long-time member of the LAHS faculty, he is ready to take on this new role. We look forward to their leadership and emphasis on student success.

Mountain View Los Altos High School District is excited to create a variety of pathways toward success as we ensure our students are well-prepared for their futures. This year, we are introducing a ninth-grade Ethnic Studies course designed to enrich our knowledge of our diverse community and broaden our global understanding. We also have enhanced our English Learner program at Los Altos High School and continue to support those coming to MVLA in myriad ways. Lastly, our continued strong academic course of study infused with academic rigor and student engagement continues to make MVLA a unique and successful place for all our students.

Sincerely,
Nellie Meyer, Ed.D.
Superintendent
MVLA High School District
