MVLA Notice of Developer Fee Increase

                PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that immediately following a public hearing on the matter, a proposed resolution(s) will be considered by the Governing Board of Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District at its regular meeting on August 24, 2020, at 7 p.m., which if adopted by the Board will implement development fees established by the District against residential construction and reconstruction at $1.36 per square foot and against new commercial or industrial construction at $0.22 a square foot.  The proposed fees are authorized by Education Code Section 17620 and Government Code Section 65995.  Data pertaining to the cost of school facilities is available for inspection during regular business hours at the District’s administrative offices.  The fee, if approved by the Governing Board, will become effective on October 26, 2020, which is 60 days after the proposed adoption of the resolution levying such fee by the Governing Board.

The Business Services department of the Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA) manages the day-to-day fiscal operations of MVLA and ensures that the district operates efficiently and in accordance with all state and federal school accounting statutes and codes.   
MVLA’s Business Services department is responsible to the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees for the administration of all business affairs and support services for the high school district.
This busy and versatile department presents business and facility updates at Board meetings,  as well as proposed annual budgets and end-of-year reports.

Mike Mathiesen has served as Associated Superintendent Business Services for MVLA since 2014.  His responsibilities include the district budget, facilities, technology and food services. Mike began his education career as a social studies teacher at Mountain View High School for seven years before he transitioned to assistant principal for another six years. His previous experience in facilities management and working with the site administrative team to achieve district and site goals (such as increased student achievement, alignment of curriculum, grading and instructional practices) served as foundation for his current role in the District. Mike received both Bachelor and Master degrees from Stanford University and an M.A. in Education (administration and supervision) through San Jose State University’s Urban High School Leadership Program.

Bob joined the MVLA team in September 2019 and currently serves as the Director of Information Technology Services.  Bob has extensive experience in public education, serving as a classroom teacher, teacher on special assignment, vice-principal and Director of Technology while with the Sequoia Union High School District.  Bob has lectured at the university level for both Santa Clara University and San Francisco State University.  Bob received both Bachelor and Masters Degrees from San Francisco State University and a teaching credential from Notre Dame de Namur University.
