Welcome to The Mountain View/Los Altos Union High School District

The Mountain View/Los Altos Union High School District is located approximately 20 miles north of San Jose and 45 miles south of San Francisco. Our two comprehensive high schools and three alternative programs serve the richly diverse communities of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. These communities are home to a variety of high tech firms such as Google, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems as well as NASA-Ames. Outstanding universities such as Stanford and San Jose State border our district to the north and south respectively. The vibrant economy, diverse culture of the area and a strong heritage of educational excellence support our two high schools both of which have received national and state recognition.
Our district serves a student population of 3,683 students of which 55% are Caucasian and 45% are students of color. Approximately fifty percent of our teaching staff hold post graduate degrees. Our district's core values of quality, continuous improvement, personal and caring environment, teamwork and empowerment guide our efforts to educate our children for the 21st century.
Mission Statement
We are committed to creating a community of learners with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to combine personal success with meaningful contributions to our multicultural and global society.
