In November 2018, MVLA Superintendent Jeff Harding announced his plan to retire at the end of this school year (June 30, 2019). In December, the MVLA Board of Trustees retained the executive search firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) to assist with the recruitment of a top-notch superintendent. Part of the recruitment process was to identify the characteristics we are seeking in our new superintendent. More than 400 teachers, students, parents, community partners and neighbors attended a meeting or completed a survey. Based on that input, HYA evaluated the many applications and selected eight candidates for the MVLA Board of Trustees to interview.
First and second interviews of the best candidates will be held in closed sessions between March 15-24. A decision about the successor to the superintendency should be announced by or before the April 8 Board of Trustees meeting.
