Junior Evelyn Baher-Murphy is LAHS Student of the Month for March 2019. She is a truly dedicated scholar-athlete. For the past two years, Evelyn has received the Athlete of the Year Award. She is a three-sport athlete, playing field hockey in the fall, basketball in the winter, and LaCrosse in the spring for LAHS (team co-captain) and a club. She also has a job and heavy course load.
Evelyn is co-president of the Haiti Solidarity Club, an LAHS service club, in which she plans fundraisers for their sister school in Haiti, and plans and attends protests that raise awareness about the situation in Haiti. Evelyn has gone to Haiti with the club for the last two years and plans on going again this year. She has worked on a school mural, helped at a mobile medical clinic, and painted and prepared an orphanage for 14 orphan girls.
Evelyn is thinking about pursuing environmental science as her major in college in two years.
