In February 2019, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) released the names of 27 Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA) students who earned honors as National Merit Scholarship Finalists for 2019. Congratulations to the following students:

In September, about 16,000 students - including 28 MVLA students - qualified as semifinalists, designated on a state-representational basis. Twenty-seven of 28 MVLA semifinalists are finalists.

In 2018 and 2017, MVLA had four students win a National Merit Scholarship. In 2016, one MVLA student received the honor.

The 2019 National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced between April and July 2019.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)—which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants each year—and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.
