Ms. Stephanie Fullen-Safian

Stephanie Fullen Luskin was born in Boston and moved to California when she was 4 years old. She grew up in San Mateo, CA and spent her summers in France.  She attended the School of International Service at American University and earned a B.A. in International Relations.  After college, she moved to Poland to work as Foreign Relations Officer for the Polish government while also teaching English at a private school. After two years in Poznan, Stephanie became a U.S. Diplomat and was posted at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw for two years. She decided that as much as she loved diplomacy, she wanted to help children understand world cultures on a grass roots level. As a result, she returned to school to get her M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor while interning at the Children’s Museum.  After her studies, she moved to Germany to learn German and to work at three children’s museums designing interactive children’s exhibits focused on world cultures. After Germany, Stephanie joined Optimist International as the International Development Coordinator to build youth empowerment programs in France, Belgium, England and Quebec. After six years abroad, Stephanie decided to come home to be with her family and to attend Stanford University where she received an M.A. in Educational Studies and a single subject teaching credential in French. Stephanie loves teaching and feels so fortunate to be working at Los Altos High School! She hopes the skills gained in her class will enable her students to not only discover the world, but will also help them to work or volunteer abroad so they too can make a positive contribution to the global community.
