Dear MVLA Community,
I believe we have the daunting responsibility to inspire every MVLA student to be their best, everyday. To this end, we have created school environments that motivate all students to set lofty goals and we support all students so they can stretch to meet those goals. We prepare all students to successfully matriculate in any path they choose upon graduation. Upon graduation, we want our students to be compassionate leaders and life-long learners.
Since our inception in 1902, our schools have provided world-class education to the students of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. Our strong scores on Advanced Placement and SAT exams are among the highest in California. U.S. News and World Report recognized both Los Altos High and Mountain View High School with a Gold Award for ranking in the top two percent of high schools nationally. Our students gain acceptance to the most selective colleges and universities in the country with over 96% of our graduating seniors pursuing a college degree.
Our schools also provide an inclusive culture that promotes a healthy and balanced lifestyle. We believe that high school students thrive when they make time in their busy schedule to reflect on their learning. We want our students to develop healthy habits and to form lasting friendships. We encourage all students to get plenty of sleep and good nutrition - a foundation to success in high school. We want our students to pursue their passions, whether through academics, athletics, fine arts, music, or one of the many clubs on our campuses.
Fortunately, our enriched educational program is supported by the MVLA High School Foundation. Through the generosity of our parents and the community, the Foundation provides students with the tools and assistance to succeed at high school. The annual contribution from the Foundation extends library hours, lowers class size in vital classes, and funds the College & Career centers on our campuses.
Alternative Educational Options
For students interested in a smaller school setting, MVLA offers several engaging options: Alta Vista High School, Middle College at Foothill Community College, and Independent Study through the MVLA Adult School. Freestyle Academy of Communication Arts and Technology integrates state-of-the-art academic instruction with the latest equipment in multimedia production.
Our exceptional staff forms the cornerstone of our schools. MVLA teachers are leaders in their field of study, earning recognition for outstanding instruction. Many of our teachers hold graduate degrees in their academic field and all seek to inspire students to excel. Year after year, the supportive environment attracts the very best professionals to join our faculty.
We encourage you to become active partners in the educational process so our students can grow in mind, body, and spirit.
