Dr. Brenda Harris

Dr. Brenda Harris has served as Director of MVLA Adult School since 2018.  She has over 26 years of experience in education and for the last 13 years has been the Assistant Director of the Adult School. Dr. Harris holds a PhD in Education Administration, a Masters in Administration and Supervision, and an MBA in Finance. She has extensive experience in curriculum development, management, and accounting.

Prior to coming to the MVLA District, Dr. Harris served as Assistant Principal for MetroED, Director of Education at Bryman College and Dean and Instructor at Heald College. 

Dr. Harris is responsible for all administrative duties associated with the adult school including instructional leadership, facilities management and community engagement.   She was named Adult Education Administrator of the Year through ACSA in 2013.

Ms. Julie Vo, M.Ed

Julie Vo has served as Assistant Director of MVLA Adult School since 2018.  She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of education, with expertise in leadership, ESL and English instruction, curriculum development, career technical education, secondary and higher education, accreditation and data analysis.

Ms. Vo came from the San Jose Evergreen Community College District where she served as Associate Dean of their Adult Education and Basic Skills program. She was also an education leader with the South Bay Consortium of Adult Education. Ms. Vo had previously worked in the MVLA district as High School Diploma/GED Coordinator from 2010 to 2015, and as Career Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator from 2007 to 2010. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University. She holds teaching credentials in Social Studies and English.

Ms. Vo supports all administrative duties associated with the adult school.  Additionally, she serves on the Leadership Board for the North Santa Clara County Consortium (NSCCC) and is an active member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
