The Updated Slate
Staff and student feedback, patience, and flexibility have been valuable as we strengthen our Distance Learning program to better serve our community. We continue to analyze and work toward continuous improvement of our distance education and organization. In a Student Survey that was given a couple of weeks ago, questions were asked about the Weekly Slate. Students reported that the Weekly Slates were helpful to them. Most students use the slates as a reference throughout the week; many others use it to organize and/or plan upcoming school days, and/or to get the synchronous class links.
One constructive piece of feedback was that the posting of the Slate on Wednesdays interrupted the week’s rhythm.
To address this concern, we have made the following changes to the Slate:
1.) All Slates will be posted on Canvas on Fridays by 5pm.
2.) Slates weeks start on the following Monday and end on Friday.
4.) To help students with organization and navigation, all teachers use the Slate Template.
5.) Teachers are encouraged weekly, to take a moment in class to review the week's slate in detail with the class.
Technology Support Updates
We have added a section to our district website to assist students and families with technology resources. This section includes general technical support for the many EdTech tools used throughout MVLA, Canvas guides/support for students and families, as well as basic troubleshooting tips, important information about Zoom, and ChromeOS updates. There is also a link to the district's Help Desk; and the IT department makes every effort to respond to all inquiries in a timely manner.
The resources can be found at https://www.mvla.net/technology-support/
