MVLA Update

Dear MVLA Community,
In an effort to head off a surge in coronavirus cases that could overwhelm the state’s health care system, California Governor Newsom has imposed an overnight curfew effective this Saturday, requiring most non-essential work, movement and gatherings to stop between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The new stay-at-home order affects 41 California counties under the ‘purple tier’ – including Santa Clara and neighboring Alameda, Stanislaus, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties.
The order will last until December 21, but the Governor has said the order could be extended if infection rates and disease trends do not improve.
Within MVLA, we are analyzing the impact of not only the curfew but the move back to the purple tier. Per county order, we are now pausing our plans to increase cohorts and athletic conditioning programs. We plan to continue with the cohorts currently in place while we are in the purple tier. During this period, we will continue to assess student needs and will communicate our targeted cohort additions when they are formed.
I urge you all to continue to practice social distancing, avoid large gatherings, wear your mask, and practice good hygiene and handwashing. It will take all of us to take the necessary actions to prevent COVID-19 from spreading further.
I hope you are staying well, and helping others in your households to be the same.
Nellie Meyer, Ed.D.
Superintendent
