The MVLA High School District (MVLA) and its more than 4,300 students and 400 teachers continually strive to achieve and support one another in our effort to succeed our personal bests. Individually and collectively, our hard work is often acknowledged with awards and accolades, locally and nationally.
 
The MVLA Board of Trustees also regularly recognizes people, organizations and community groups whose contributions to the district continue the history of distinction for which our schools are known. Our honorees include National Board Certified Teachers, Students of the Month, “Spotlight” recognition at Board of Trustee meetings, and more.

The  advances the quality of teaching and learning by maintaining rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. National Board Certification certifies only teachers who successfully complete its rigorous certification process.
 
MVLA has 16 teachers who have earned the elite status of National Board Certification, a voluntary, advanced teaching credential that goes beyond state licensure. The students of our community benefit from their dedication, selfless energy, and commitment to quality education.

2020 u.s. news and world report - Los altos and mountain view high school rank among the best

Both of MVLA's comprehensive high schools - Los Altos High School and Mountain View High School - have been listed in the top 500 of the nation's best high schools, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report in their latest report. The rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance and how well they prepare students for college.
 
Los Altos High School is ranked 54th within California, and number 418 in national rankings. The study indicated students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Los Altos ) is 69%. The total minority enrollment is 61%, and 21% of students are economically disadvantaged.
 
Mountain View High School is ranked 64th within California and is number 499 in the national rankings. The report noted that Spartans, as well, have the opportunity to take AP coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Mountain View High is 74%. The total minority enrollment is 58%, and 17% of students are economically disadvantaged.
