What is the SELPA 1 CAC?

"SELPA" stands for Special Education Local Plan Area, as it is defined by the state Office of Education.  SELPA 1 includes all the public schools in the cities of Los Altos, Palo Alto, and Mountain View.  "CAC" stands for Community Advisory Committee.  Formed in 1994, the SELPA 1 CAC is a group of people mostly parents of children with special needs along with district administrators and special education staff who work on a wide range of issues related to special education.
