Welcome to Los Altos High School’s 2010-2011 Instrumental Music Program!

Ted Ferrucci, Director of Instrumental Music, has planned another outstanding year for the music program including a 2011 Summer Concert Tour of Spain and France. Our music groups now include 3 concert bands, 2 string orchestras, 2 symphony orchestras, 2 jazz ensembles and a marching band.

The success of the music program depends on the participation of family and friends. You can ensure your student has an enriching experience in many ways:

Be an active Instrumental Music Booster member.  All parents of instrumental students are Instrumental Music Booster members!  It’s a great way to meet other parents and be involved in your student’s high school life.

Donate generously to the Music Boosters.  The majority of our funds come from direct parent donations.  We support all instrumental ensembles with instrument purchases, repairs, support staff, music arrangements and scholarships.  Donations can be made through the “Combined Parent Group Payment Form or download a donation form from our website.

Volunteer, it’s fun.  Besides fundraising, we host “Band Night” and “Strictly Strings” with the elementary schools and guest artist performances.  We encourage parents to help and join the fun.  If you’re a Marching Band parent, we will need pre-season and competition volunteers.

Attend Music Booster Meetings - share your ideas, hear the Music Director’s update, and learn what our current activities and needs are.  Meetings are generally held the first Monday of the month at 7:30 PM in the band room.  Our first meeting will be September 13th.

Check the web - information about fundraisers and parental opportunities are posted on our website: From the LAHS homepage click “Parents”, then “Instrumental Music Boosters”. We also send out information via the school’s elists.

Join the Instrumental E-List information will also be emailed to parents. From the LAHS homepage, click the “Subscribe E(agle) Mail” icon and join the music group elists  your student is a member of.

For course information, concert dates, competition schedules and other updates from the Instrumental Music Director, on the LAHS homepage, click “Staff Directory”,  then “Visit” next to Mr. Ferrucci’s  name .

Marching Band Students, please check the Marching Band link on Mr. Ferrucci’s webpage.  You will find everything you’ll need to launch the season from registration forms to the season’s schedule.  Band camp kicks off Tuesday 8/10 and concludes with our Annual Family BBQ & Swim party on Sunday August 15th.  If you haven’t joined Marching Band, it’s not too late! Contact Mr. Ferrucci at Ted.Ferrucci@mvla.net  or 650-960-8844.

Finally, the Music Boosters has an extensive Board made of  parents  representing each music ensemble. They’re ready to help you navigate the music department.  Find out who they are on our website and feel free to contact them.

Questions?  Please call or email us.  We are committed to making this year both successful and enjoyable for all.
